Highlights from May 1977 MSU baseball, football and track events. The MSU baseball team takes on Northwestern, the Green team beat the White team 24-20 in the 1977 Green-White football game, and the MSU Track and Field team upsets Eastern Michigan at Ralph Young Field, 80-65.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of galley print of "Worked Out in Infinite Detail": Michigan State College's Lauren P. Brown and the Origins of the NCAA Cross Country Championships by Mark E. Havitz and Eric D. Zemper, 2013 and a dvd of home videos of cross country and track meets from 1962 to 1964.

The movies were originally shot by Robert Sharkey. They show MSU cross country and track athletes Richard "Dick" Sharkey and Eric Zemper among others.

Scope and Contents

The Francis “Fran” Dittrich collection consists of three scrapbooks created by Fran Dittrich, during his time as Michigan State’s Track & Field and Cross Country Head Coach. Two of the scrapbooks contain newspaper articles discussing the teams, while the third consists of photographs, articles, certificates, correspondence regarding Dittrich’s career and those of the head coaches before him, and Dittrich's MSU identification card.
