Alton Wheaton papers

Scope and Contents

The Alton Wheaton papers contain primarily financial records and other forms of inventory that Wheaton took while working on his farm. There is also a small section on some of Wheaton’s community activities, some photographs of said activities, and two books on the Wheaton family genealogy. There are also a number of folders containing deeds and titles to various pieces of land Wheaton owned. There are also catalogs, plans, newsletters and brochures on farm topics.

Gordon Schlubatis papers

Scope and Contents

The collection contains trip reports, correspondence, slides, maps and travel booklets related to Schlubatis' time spent working as an agriculture agent overseas. There are also awards, scrapbooks, and photographs. Also included are materials related to his wife Harriet Schlubatis including awards, a Michigan Normal School yearbook, and a student expense register.

Mayo family papers

Scope and Contents Over fifty Civil War letters of Perry Mayo, written to his family in Calhoun County, Michigan, from June 1861 to May 1864, constitute the bulk of this collection. They include vivid descriptions of battles, marches, military personnel and camp life, together with observations on the conduct of the war. Also in this collection are numerous and fragmentary attempts at genealogy, with related correspondence which, in addition to Mayo, include such family names as Angell, Bryant,...
