Lewis Ransom Fiske papers

The Lewis Ransom Fiske papers include presidential reports to the State Board of Agriculture, two published speeches, an address, correspondence, financial papers, a student petition, and biographical information on Fiske. One item of interest is the two articles in the Michigan Farmer Newspaper (Fl. 10) which describe in detail the expense, effort,and process of clearing land for the original campus area.

Michigan Agricultural College Oratorical Association records

The records of the M.A.C. Oratorical Association contain the Treasurer’s account book, grade cards filled out by competition judges, receipts, the Secretary’s book, and two programs from the 1899 Oratorical contest. Scope and Contents The records of the Office of Planning and Budget contain early accounts, vouchers, receipts and cancelled checks for 1852 to 1924. Of interest are bills for boarding halls, student labor accounts, and bills for equipment. This collection contains the organic chemistry notes of Oliver C. Hollister. The first page of the notebook contains a table of contents to all the topics covered in the notebook. Some topics include formic acid, glucose, chloroform, vegetable acids, and starches. The notebook also includes sketches of certain lab set ups and newspaper clippings. Oscar Clute papers

The Oscar Clute papers consist primarily of correspondence (1889-1893) during Clute's presidency at Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University). Also included are several articles on education and M.A.C., and information about the 1893 Columbian Exposition. The period of Clute's presidency was characterized by student unrest, political crises, and faculty turnover.
