Scope and Contents

The collection is organized into two series. Series 1, Publications, consists of articles and publications by Paul Honigsheim. Topics include Max Weber, sociology, religion, anthropology. The publications are in German, English and French. In addition, there is a publication about Paul Honigsheim called “From the Rhineland to Michigan the Sociologist and Pedagogue Paul Honigsheim (1885-1963) Migrant and Mediator Between Two Cultures,” by Martha Friedenthal-Haase.

Series 2, Personal Papers, consists of records donated later and include his personal and office files, including many files of correspondence both personal and professional. Correspondence is in German, French, English and Spanish. One folder contains letters from ASTP (Army Specialized Training Program) students to whom Honigsheim taught French and Spanish during their military training at Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) during World War II.
