Academic Specialist Appointment System - Implementation Issues, 1988
Scope and Contents
The records of Thomas V. Atkinson contain the four series: Academic Specialists Appointment System, Instruction, Network Communication Committee, and Other. The materials reflect Atkinson’s original arrangement, categorization and folder titles.
The first folder contains "TVA Submissions to the Archives" written by Atkinson which provides information on Atkinson's labeling system, and history and background of Atkinson's involvement with the various committees. The next folder "Index of Documents" provides a list of the electronic and paper documents in the collection and a CD containing the documents. It lists the folder, subfolder, file name, document title, date, number of pages, and description. The majority of the documents are included in the collection as paper documents. Some, however, are only contained in an electronic format on the CD.
The Academic Specialists Appointment System series contains mostly Academic Specialist Advisory Committee materials including memos, meeting minutes, newsletters and drafts of the policies and procedures.
The Instruction series contains class exams, syllabi, study guides, as well as course announcements. The classes included are CEM 372, CEM 838, CEM 890, and CEM 924.
The Network Communication Committee series contains reports, minutes, memos, guidelines, and recommendations.
The Other series contains documents related to the Chemistry building and annex, Chemistry computing, history of the chemistry department, EGrades, Scientific Instrument Consulting Service, talks given by Atkinson, and the project team charged with selecting a new MSU Procurement System.
The collection also includes a DVD with images of the construction of the chemistry building annex.
Note: Some files found on the Index of Documents (Box 2462 Folder 2) are digital only and have no paper copies. They can be found on the CD-ROM in the folder. The Index of Documents lists which documents are digital copies only and which are paper.
