Hubert M. Wells, Memoirs
Scope and Contents
The papers of Hubert Wells consist of his memoirs. In the first section, "Memories of MAC", Wells describes his college days and activities. He describes the buildings and professors, and discusses his everyday life including classes, work, and religious and extracurricular activities.
In the second section, Wells begins an account of his youth, recalling life on his family farm in the northeast section of Howell township. He describes tools, crops, livestock, living conditions, and Presbyterian Church activities.
In later additions, Wells describes his experiences after college, when he worked as a teacher and farmer, and his courtship and marriage to Adda Hartwell in 1890.
Also included in the collection is Wells' college diploma.
