The Irma Thompson papers consist of correspondence and memorabilia from her time as a college student including dance cards, programs for dances, and programs for events on campus. The events were held by various organizations including Feronian Society, Hesperian Society, Eclectic Society, Olympic Society, MAC Oratorical Association, Union Literary Society, as well as the alumni association. There are also a number of plays, poems and short stories written by Irma and other classmates and newspaper and magazine clippings. Also included are handwritten and typed “Memories,” telling of her acceptance to and years at Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University).

The collection also includes a scrapbook with photographs of campus, students, and student organizations. Of note is a photograph of the class of 1900 with identification of the people. The scrapbook also includes drawings Thompson did reflecting her time as a student. There is also an athletic event tickets, score cards for College Field Day events, and handbills for the College field day ball game, and a baseball game. In addition there are programs for events and dances, biographies, addresses, and correspondence with class members.

There are also materials called “Pioneer Histories.” These consist of stories, memories, price lists and inventories of early Michigan pioneers (1820s-1950s). Also included is a hand-written collection of “Famous First Facts,” a Farmer’s almanac (1855) with handwritten notes and a “Family Almanac” (1900).

The collection also contains photographs of campus buildings, classes including human ecology, military science, a band, as well as athletics. There are also photographs of students including identified individual portraits, and student activities, dormitory life and the Eclectic Society. The collection also contains a few images of ships.

The postcards contains campus buildings, and campus scenes.
