Scope and Contents
This collection consists of correspondence (1862-1864) received by Emma Miller of Chikaming, Berrien County, Michigan during the Civil War. Most of the letters were written by her fiance, Captain Mark D. Flower, who was attached to Headquarters, District of Memphis, Army of the Tennessee. In addition to frequent expression of his affection, Flower describes the battle of Iuka, Mississippi, and gives an account of headquarters routine.
