Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection contains two scrapbooks which detail, via newspaper clippings, magazine articles and photographs, the development of the sport of hydroplane racing during the 1940s and 1950s. The first scrapbook covers the period 1946 to 1955; the second the period 1955 to 1959. Most of the material deals with racing on the Detroit River and racing personalities in the Detroit area.

Both scrapbooks are preserved on microfilm. Black and white copy negatives are available for approximately half of the photographs included in the scrapbooks; color copy negatives, for two photographs.
