The collection contains material (1936-1941, 1948-1958) pertaining to the operation of Produce Department Incorporated, later Grand Rapids Wholesale Grocery Company. The volumes consist primarily of minutes of Board of Directors' Meetings (August 1936-April 1941 and May 1948-March 1956), which deal with company expenses, profits, operations, personnel changes, business problems and minutes of Annual Meetings of Shareholders (1948-1958). Also included is an annual statement and list of stockholders (March 31, 1940), Articles of Incorporation (1937-1954), business notes, correspondence, proxy statements for an April 19, 1939 Board meeting, and a trade independent league activities circular (1940).

The donor, Gordon C. Kleiman, was appointed general manager April 2, 1958, upon the resignation of Charles Ruth.
