Scope and Contents

(1) ADMINISTRATIVE SUBJECT FILES. 1960-1989. 94.75 CU. FT. Materials relating to the administrative decisions and plans of the Associate Provost and its relation to academic and administrative units. Contains correspondence, meeting notes, statistics, course guidelines, memoranda, proposals, reports, conference programs, schedules, grant applications, University policies, and personnel papers. These records reflect a range of topics including enrollment and retention, faculty issues, administration of personnel within the Provost's Office, academic policy, University activities, departments and programs, faculty salaries, university policies, academic use of computers on campus, and accreditation of various academic units. Arranged alphabetically.

(2) COMMITTEE FILES. 1963, 1965-1989. 15.75 CU. FT. Contains materials relating to various university committees from Academic Senate to the University Curriculum Committee. These files focus mainly on the committees on which the Associate Provost sat as representative of the Provost's Office, but includes other committees and their work as well. Found in this series are agendas, minutes, reports, correspondence, graphic materials and memoranda. Arranged alphabetically.

3) STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (SIS). 1985-1989. 4.5 CU. FT.

Records pertaining to the Student Information System and its contract agreements, as held in the Provost's Office. These materials are separate from those in the SIS Office. Materials includes memoranda, contracts, proposals, bids, requests, correspondence, agreements and drafts and revisions of all aforementioned. Arranged alphabetically/chronologically.

(4) BUDGET/ANNUAL EVALUATION AND REPORT. 1960-1962, 1965-1989. 19.5 CU. FT.

This series reflects the work of the Associate Provost in coordinating and planning budgets for various units and academic colleges. Found here is the paperwork concerning the University Annual Evaluation and Report. Contained here are budget related materials including memoranda, reports, evaluations, correspondence, spreadsheets, graphic materials and statistics. Part of the budget material includes Modified Coordinated Plan records, Cash Management Plans, Personnel impact plans, general budget information and issue related records. Arranged alphabetically/chronologically.

(5) ACADEMIC/RESIDENTIAL COLLEGES. 1972-1980. 1.0 CU. FT.

Reflects a small accession devoted to Michigan State University's Academic/Residential Colleges. The materials focus mainly on Justin Morrill College, but includes information on Lymann Briggs and University Colleges. Justin Morrill College material focuses on development of programs, such as the Justin Morrill Inter-College Program (JMIP), and curriculum changes. Contained in this series are correspondence, memoranda, statistics, reports, curriculum revisions and schedules. Arranged alphabetically.

(6) MISCELLANEOUS. 1966, 1969, 1995-2012.

(7) RESTRICTED FILES. 1971, 1975-1989. 5.0 CU. FT.

Contains student and faculty data, litigious materials and other personally identifiable information considered confidential under the University's "Guidelines Governing Privacy and Release of Student Records."

(8) AUDIOCASSETTE SEPARATIONS. 20 TAPES. APRIL 2-5, 1985

This series notes the 20 audiocassettes separated from the collection. These are the recordings of the conference proceedings between the University and other parties regarding the contract negotiations for the Student Information System (SIS). These tapes are grouped in four series of five tapes, with each for a different day and party.
