Triple Concerto - First Movement, oversized score, by William Averitt, Undated
Scope and Content
The Verdehr Trio collections contains musical compositions either written or commissioned by the Trio. The collection variously includes handwritten scores, full scores, and individual parts. If there is no written distinction, the folder comprises a full score. Among the composers represented are Leslie Bassett, William David Brohn, David Diamond, Elena Firsova, Jere Hutcheson, Gian-Carlo Menotti, James Niblock, and Gunther Schuller. Many items of correspondence are also included between composers and Walter Verdehr.
The collection also contains concert programs, travel schedules, and articles published about Verdehr performances. In addition, a number of domestic and foreign posters are contained in the materials.
Two boxes are comprised of audio-visual materials, with tapes 56 - 68 being found separately in box 4167. These tapes include performances, practices, and interviews with the composers. Many of the tapes are of the same performance, from multiple angles around the stage. These were edited to form the "Making of a Medium" series; both the uncut footage and the final product are usually included.
