Scope and Content

From the Collection:

This collection is comprised of materials from Herbert W. Spendlove's time working in journalism. This includes his time as a reporter for the Saginaw News, city editor for the Saginaw News, editor for the Jackson Citizen Patriot, and editor of the Ann Arbor News. Of particular interest is correspondence between Spendlove and major figures such as J. Edgar Hoover, George Romney, and George Wallace. The collection also has several invitations to conferences and presidential inaugurations which were addressed to Spendlove. There are also two scrapbooks, which were made for his retirement and which document his career. Also included is a oversize cartoon "Hari-Kari" by Frank Williams depicting that Japan's involvement in a war with the United States.
