Series Description
OFFICE OF THE DEAN.
Correspondence, miscellaneous papers, and speeches of Dean Hunt; correspondence and miscellaneous papers of Dean Weston, Dean Abbett and Dean Davis; Acting Dean Colenda; Associate Deans Howell, Johnson, Kohrman, Lyons, and Potchen and Executive Assistant Richmond. John C. Howell was involved in much of the early CHM planning and was Associate Dean for Curriculum. Arthur Kohrman was Associate Dean for Academic Programs as well as being an early member at the Department of Human Development and Chairman of the Curriculum Committee. James Lyons is Assistant Dean for Alumni Affairs and was centrally involved in off campus programs and HMOs. Also included are chronological files of correspondence responses, memoranda, and subject files.
GROUPS.
The papers and reports of various committees, councils, groups and workshops within the college. Among the groups are the college advisory council, college wide promotion and tenure committee, curriculum committee, curricular development committee, staff committees, the admissions committee, various search committees, and advisory groups. Note: Portions of the Curriculum Committee section were only minimally processed.
EVALUATIONS AND REPORTS.
The results of the college’s internal evaluations and accreditation reports from the Liaison Committee for Medical Education. Note: some of this material is also under Groups. Also contained in this section are Annual Evaluation Reports and the Medical Education Data Base. Note: The Medical Education Database may also be found under Miscellaneous Subject Files.
FINANCE.
Various subjects concerning the college’s budget process and other financial matters. Among the subjects included in this section are, ad hoc committee papers, budget preparation cycle material and budget instructions.
CANCER CENTER.
Material pertaining to the Cancer Center established in the Detroit area by the college. This section contains material on the search for a director, and on outreach programs as well as material on the set up of a field center.
MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION FOR REGIONAL MEDICAL PROGRAMS.
This was an association of state medical schools and health agencies organized to coordinate development of medical care facilities and services on a regional basis within the state. The material in this series deals with the Lansing regional program.
MISCELLANEOUS SUBJECT FILES.
Various reports, files and studies. Included in this section is material on Health Central, the Upper Peninsula Project and Track I and II class information.
HISTORY PROJECT.
Material generated by research toward writing a history of the college. This series contains oral histories and interview transcripts, news clipping files; and papers of Milton E. Muelder, Vice President, on the establishment of a medical school.
CLINICAL CENTER.
Currently consists of facts regarding the Clinical Center and records related to the opening ceremonies.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION.
Records include newsletters, membership information and records relating to reunions.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS.
Includes records from the college’s Office of Academic Affairs such as curriculum changes, meeting materials, newsletters, correspondence and other subject material.
AUDIO VISUAL MATERIALS.
Audio visual materials include photographs, videos and audio. Photographs are of events, groups, and people. Current videos include a 2004 DVD of the history of the College of Human Medicine.
ELECTRONIC RESOURCES.
This series consists of content on magnetic and optical media. Also included are student handbooks and a manual on the EValue evaluation system; a video created in 2004 that covers the history of the College; the photos and text documents that were used to create vol. 34.1 of MD Magazine; and a video created for the 50th Anniversary event held in 2014.
BUILDING FLOOR PLANS. (Restricted)
This series consists of floor plans for the Radiology Building (1999). These have restricted access.
