George A. Dibble papers
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of letters from Major George A. Dibble to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dibble, Lansing, Michigan, and family photographs. Dibble joined the Army Air Corps in 1941, was trained in Texas and New Mexico, (along with Captain Elliot Roosevelt), and served in a variety of European and Asian theaters as a supply flight navigator. Afterward, he remained in the service and flew the early supersonic aircraft.
The photographs are in digital format on an internal server: I:\LC 87\HC 1089\ . They have also been ingested to the IX server for availability in the digital repository.

Historical Note
George Arthur Dibble was born March 26, 1919 to Ralph Burbank Dibble (1890 – 1963) and Bessie Louise Lewis (1889 – 1977). He enlisted into the Army Air Corps on April 25, 1941. Previous to enlistment, he had completed two years of college.
He married Mary Alice Gillett May 29, 1943 and they divorced in 1958. He died June 20, 1998.
