Scope and Contents
This collection consists of microfilm of journals (1840-1879) kept by George Nelson Smith while serving as a missionary among the Indians of southwestern Michigan. It also includes a few letters (1835-1849). The journals record his daily activities, his expenses and income, weather conditions, local social events, his sermons and other religious activities.
