Historical Note
The 6th Michigan Infantry Regiment was stationed in southern Mississippi and Louisiana during most of the Civil War, and took part in battles at Baton Rouge and New Orleans in 1862 and the siege of Port Hudson in 1863. Company K was under the command of Captain David Bacon who was wounded at Baton Rouge.
