Scope and Contents
This collection contains Sherritt's letters home while serving with the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles. Included are letters from his mother, Janetta Sherritt, to family members, as well as newspaper reprints of some of his letters. Also included are articles relating to Sherritt's death and the battle of Hart's River.

Biographical Note
Alfred W. Sherritt of Brantford, Ontario, was a Canadian bicycling champion in the 1890s. He enlisted in two campaigns in the Boer War and was killed in the battle of Hart's River on March 31, 1902.
