Biography

Burton Orange Longyear was born in 1868. He attended Michigan Agricultural College in 1891 as a freshman and as a sophomore the following year. In 1894, he was hired as an Instructor of Botany and continued until accepting an Assistant Professor of Horticulture and Botany position at the Agricultural College of Colorado in May of 1904. He died in 1969.

While an instructor at M.A.C., he attended courses as a special student beginning in 1901 and graduated with a B. S. with the class of 1903. He also was an advisor for the Agricultural Station for 2 years. He wrote a number of articles and booklets and his area of specialty was Michigan fungus.
