Scope and Contents
This collection contains selected issues of the Lansing State Journal: the Farmers' Week Magazine Section, 1937, 1939-1945, 1951; Mid-Century Edition, 1950; and Centennial Edition, 1955. Also included are copies of the August 14, 1945 announcing the surrender of the Japanese to the Allied Forces.

Historical Note
The paper was started as the Lansing Republican on April 28, 1855, to advance the causes of the newly founded Republican Party in Michigan. The paper merged with the Lansing Journal forming The State Journal in January 1911. Gannett bought the paper in 1971, and it became the Lansing State Journal on August 25, 1980.
