Scope and Contents
This collection contains an inventory of farm machinery exhibited at the First and Second Annual Fairs of the Michigan State Agricultural Society in Detroit in 1849 and Ann Arbor in 1850. Also included is a membership card for Stephen Eldred dated 1854.

Historical Note
The Michigan State Agricultural Society was organized in Lansing on March 17, 1849. Its purpose was to provide Michigan farmers the information to build the best farms.
The society went on to manage the Michigan State Agricultural College. This responsibility was later turned over to a newly created State Board of Agriculture.
The society also oversaw the Michigan State Fair.
