The first meeting of the Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation was held on May 3, 1955 at the Hotel Olds in Lansing, Michigan. Individuals from various dairy associations across the state were invited to attend this organizational meeting. The foundation was formed to address two needs within the dairy industry: the need to provide scholarships for the development of leadership in dairy students and also to provide a means through which contributions may be given in honor or memorial of Michigan dairy leaders.
