Biographical Note
The Pinckney family has been a prominent part of the Lansing, Michigan community since the nineteenth century. William H. Pinckney was appointed Attorney Solicitor and Counselor in the courts of Michigan. He also served as an Attorney at Law in the state and was elected Judge of Probate in Ingham County from 1856 to 1864. On August 22, 1863, Pinckney enlisted in the 27th Michigan Infantry as a private. He was discharged from the army on July 26, 1865.
