Parmalee family collection
Scope and Content
The collection consists of a ledger of farm records which contains a register of students from Michigan State University who visited the farm with their class in the years 1922-1928 and some memoirs which are not dated. Also included are numerous newspaper and magazine articles which describe Parmalee and his farm.

Biographical Note
William Parmalee owned Cherry Rill Farm, a dairy and potato farm in Allegan County, Michigan. Parmalee was born on October 23, 1830 in Middlesex County, Connecticut. In 1855, he came to Michigan and started what was later to become one of the highest-yielding potato farms in Michigan. Two years later, he married Clarissa Bissell. Parmalee died in 1934.
