Scope and Contents

The Malik papers consist of two publications. The first, "Will the Future Redeem the Past?", is a speech delivered by Malik at Williamsburg, Virginia on June 11, 1960, and concerns Communism and the United Nations. The second is the 1963 membership directory of the Cosmos Club of Washington, D.C. of which Malik was a member.

Biographical Note

Charles Malik (1906-1987) was a prominent Lebanese diplomat and educator. He served as Foreign Minister of Lebanon, Ambassador to the United States (1953-1955), and was the president of the 13th Session United Nations General Assembly (1958-1959). Malik was also a professor of philosophy at the American University of Beruit for several years.
