Spanish-American War scrapbook
Scope and Contents
This scrapbook covers the Spanish-American War through newspaper clippings from Detroit newspapers from April 18 to May 14, 1898. Subjects of the clippings in the collection include government statements and declarations, United States House of Representatives and Senate decisions and reactions, Commodore Dewey, and the progress of the war. Also included are troop and ship movements, the capture of enemy vessels, and articles about officers, spies, and the heroic action of soldiers. Several maps and pictures of both Spanish and American ships are also available.
