Scope and Contents

The collection consists of transcripts of grievance arbitration proceedings heard by Meyer S. Ryder from a variety of firms throughout the United States. Also included are one transcript heard by W. J. Lewis, an agreement, a publication of the King-Seeley Corporation, and correspondence to Ryder from David L. Burton. Over 3 cubic feet are devoted to cases against Republic Steel Company.

Biographical Note

Meyer S. Ryder (1909-1986) was a professor of industrial relations in the School of Business Administration at University of Michigan from 1952 until he retired in 1976. Ryder earned degrees from the University of Chicago and the J. Marshall Law School. Ryder also worked as an arbitrator in labor disputes at both state and federal levels.
