Biographical Note
Joseph L. Saupe was born in Columbia, Missouri, on March 10, 1929. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Missouri Valley College in 1950. He then attended the University of Illinois, where he received his Master's degree in education in 1951 and a Doctorate of education in 1954. Saupe began working at Michigan State University in September 1956 as an instructor for the Board of Examiners. He was promoted to the rank of professor in the department of Institutional Research in 1965. He left MSU in 1968.
