Historical Note
The first of eleven projects of the Latin American Marketing Program (LAMP) were funded by the United States Agency for International Development in 1965 in Puerto Rico. Research was focused on food marketing management and the role of food marketing in economic development. Food marketing studies were also conducted in Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia and Costa Rica. In Columbia, the program was expanded to also include study of the marketing of agricultural livestock.
The Latin American Marketing Planning Center (LAMP) was created after funding was obtained after the first project was completed. Formal project agreements ceased in 1976.
