Historical Note

The College of Urban Development offered degrees in Racial and Ethnic Studies and Urban and Metropolitan Studies. This was the first college in the nation to offer undergraduate degree programs in those fields. The goal of the college was to teach students to apply knowledge to social problems in an urban setting. The College also contained the Center for Urban Affairs. The Center coordinated problem oriented research, demonstration projects, and public service efforts involving faculty, staff, and students from the College of Urban Development.
