Scope and Contents
The Intercollegiate Athletics Cross Country Collection consists of two event programs from the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America Cross Country Championships and the National Collegiate Cross Country Championships. Photographs of team members are also available.

Historical Note
Cross country began at Michigan State University in 1907 with a competition between students. Intercollegiate competition started in 1910 and has continued with numerous individual and team Big Ten titles and National Championships. Between 1939 and 1959, MSU’s Cross Country team won the NCAA Division I championship eight times.
