Historical Note
The Mott Institute for Community Improvement was created to open the entire community to education and the benefits of educational services. Its principal objectives were "innovations in teacher education in regard to educating the culturally disadvantaged;, the collection, analysis and distribution of information relating to community improvement; the providing of advisory personnel to various agencies and school systems; the development of programs in various school systems; and the research relevant to these activities" (from an information sheet in F.D., folder 2).
