Historical Note

The Government Research Bureau was created in the School of Business and Public Service in 1951. Around 1954, the Social Research Laboratory was formed in the School of Science and Arts. Circa 1959, these two organizations merged to form the Bureau of Social Science and Political Research in the College of Business and Public Service. In 1964 it was renamed the Social Science Research Bureau in the College of Social Science. This organization facilitates research activities of faculty and students by providing help with grants and awards, editorial assistance, and administrative support.
