Maurice Larian papers
Scope and Contents
The Maurice Larian papers consist of manuscripts for chapters of the book Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering Unit Operations. The collection also includes personal and professional correspondence during his career and his retirement. The personal correspondence folder contains letters from former students many of whom were serving in the Armed Forces during the Second World War. Professional correspondence deals with university issues and books published by Larian. Also included are certificates, newspaper articles about his publications and retirement papers.

Biographical Note
Born in Armenia in 1899/1900, Maurice Larian immigrated to the United States in 1921. Larian received his B.S. (1926) and M.S. (1928) from Iowa State University and his Ph.D. (1932) from University of Minnesota. He was a faculty member of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University from the 1936 to 1971. He wrote a textbook titled Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering Unit Operations which was published by Prentice-Hall as part of the Chemical Engineering Series in 1958. Larian died in 1974.
