Historical Note
Baseball was the first organized athletic activity on campus beginning in 1865-1866 with the Star Baseball Club. The 1884-1885 team became the first to compete with a intercollegiate schedule. Michigan State baseball teams have won three Big Ten titles (1954, 1971, 1979), appeared in four NCAA tournaments (1954, 1971, 1978, 1979) and appeared in the College World Series in 1954.
