Scope and Contents

The collection contains college memorabilia collected by Esther M. Rehkopf. This includes a postcard of the Eunomian House, 1919-1920 YMCA Handbook from Michigan Agricultural College, and a 1921 commencement program. The memorabilia also includes the M.A.C. Catalog for 1917-1918, the college handbook for 1920-1921, student directories for 1917 through 1920, rules for women, regulations for undergraduate students, an M.A.C. souvenir booklet, The Holcad newsletter, athletics schedules, and cartoons. Additionally, there are invitations, ribbons, and tickets to various on-campus events, plus programs from various on-campus events, including a fruit and flower show, athletic events, the gymnasium dedication, banquets, dances, concerts, plays, and the 1921 commencement. Photographs in the collection include student activities such as the 1921 M.A.C. Pageant, the 1919 Barbecue, and a S.C.L. party.

Biographical Note

Born about 1899, Esther Marie Rehkopf of Petoskey, Michigan, attended Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) from 1918 to 1921. Majoring in Home Economics, Esther was part of the 1920 Wolverine staff, the League of the Silver Cross, class swimming manager for four years, and member of the class rifle team. In 1922, Esther was teaching mathematics at the high school in Manistique, Michigan, and in 1924, Esther moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, for a time. Esther married Glenn D. Garrett and worked at the Lake Grove Hotel in Petoskey.
