Scope and Contents
The papers contain two research papers written by Irma Gross and Esther Everett: "Work Simplification of Three Household Tasks" (1944) and "Scoring of Home Management Practices" (1946). Also included is the article written by Gross entitled "Home Management of Working and Non-Working Homemakers with Young Children" (1955).

Biographical Note
Irma H. Gross was born July 21, 1892 in Omaha, Nebraska. She received her B.S. (1915), M.A. (1924) and Ph.D. (1931) degrees from the University of Chicago. She became an instructor of Home Economics at Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) in 1921, an assistant professor in 1925, associate professor in 1930, and professor in 1936. From 1935 to 1958, Gross was the head of the Department of Home Management and Child Development. She died on January 4, 1980. She would have received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Home Economics Association Foundation in June 1980.
