Scope and Contents

The collection contains black and white photographs of Ray Self and Alwynelle Self Ahl wearing Michigan State College clothing and apparel in 1949 and 1950. There are two photos of Ray Self, age 3, wearing a cap with a Spartan S and a green and white suite. He is posing with a stuffed elephant with MSU on it. There is also a photo of Ray and Alwynelle at the beach wearing MSU green and white wool jackets. The clothing was a gift from their uncle, MSU professor Alvin Parker. The photos contain captions on the back describing the colors and there is also a note from the donor describing the clothing as well as contains biographical information.

Biographical Note

Alwynelle Self Ahl taught at Michigan State University from 1967 to 1987 as a professor in the Department of Natural Sciences. She received her DVM degree in 1987. Her uncle is Alvin Parker who was a professor in the Physical Science Department.
