William K. Clute collection
Scope and Contents
The William K. Clute collection consists of a lecture on the history of Sault St. Marie and Soo Locks. The collection includes the text of lecture, glass lantern slides, and list of titles of the slides. Images include steamships in the locks, the locks, construction of the locks, panoramic views of the Michigan and Canadian sides, aftermath of an accident in the Canadian locks in 1909. Other images include the Japanese Torii gate and lanterns, Carnegie library, Old Fort Brady Park, and the monument in Canal Park.

Biographical Note
William Kent Clute graduated from Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) in 1896 with a B.S. degree in Agriculture. He went on to become an attorney in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
