Biographical Note
Ruth Barnes McClintock was born on April 19, 1899. She taught at the Lansing Public Schools. In February 1926, she married Freeman Hart “Mac” McClintock (June 21, 1892 - May 20, 1983). Some time prior to 1930, she left teaching to focus on homemaking. The McClintocks had two children, William J., and Mary Jane. Freeman McClintock was the owner of McClintock Cadillac (later Capitol Cadillac) in Lansing. In addition to their home in Lansing, the family owned a summer home near Lake Charlevoix. Ruth played golf, and was a member of the Lansing Country Club, and later the Walnut Hills Country Club. She was also a member of the Friends of the Kresge Art Center at Michigan State University, and helped raise funds to purchase art for the Kresge’s permanent collections.
