Biographical Note

Cleo H. Cherryholmes was born December 28, 1938 in El Dorado, Kansas. He received a B.A. in political Science in 1960 from Yale University, an M.S. in social science from Kansas State Teacher's College in 1963 and a Ph.D. in political science from Northwestern University in 1966. He was hired by Michigan State University as an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science in April 1966. In 1974, Cherryholmes was promoted to associate professor of political science, and the Computer Institute for Social Science Research. In 1982 he was promoted to professor. He moved to the College of Education in 1995, with an emphasis on Social Studies. In July 2003, Cherryholmes retired from the university.

Cherryholmes was married to Judith Marie Cherryholmes, and had a daughter, Diana. He died on April 18, 2013.
