David Maslanka papers
Scope and Contents
The David Maslanka papers consists of am oversize photocopy of the score Symphony No. 2 by David Maslanka. The symphony was commissioned in 1983 by the Big Ten Band Directors Association. It is dedicated to H. Owen Reed on the occassion of his 75th birthday. Also included is a February 1986 letter from Maslanka to H. Owen Reed giving info about the performances for the symphonies and hopes Reed likes the score.

Biographical/Historical
David Maslanka was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1943. He studdied compositions at Oberlin College Conservatory. Maslanka recieved his masters and doctoral study in composition at Michigan State University under H. Owen Reed. He has been a faculty member at State University of New York at Geneseo, Sarah Lawrence College, New York University, and Kingsborough Community College of the City University of New York.
