Scope and Content

The Carol Jeane McKindley collection contains student materials including a 1941-42 Student handbook, registration schedule for 1942-43 and directions for registration. It also contains a Parent Report of standings for Helen Claire McKindley's Winter '43 term, and a postcards of personal correspondence from Carol describing life at college and post card from her relative, Helen McKindley, who was also at MSU.

Biographical Note

Carol Jeane McKindley was born on July 4, 1923 and passed at the age of 88 on July 21, 2011. She attended MSU as a freshman in 1941-42, received her nursing certification in June of 1945 at Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing, and then graduated as a pre-med student from MSC (MSU) in 1946. She met her husband in a math class at MSC (MSU), Donald Nelson Churchill, they had seven children. The collection contains a postcard from Helen Claire McKindley was born on November 22, 1922 and passed at the age of 90 on December 6, 2014. She was a freshman at MSC (MSU) during the 1942-43 academic year. During this same year she worked on the Wolverine. She married Lee Frost Pierce in 1951.
