Biographical / Historical
Harry Franklin Steele, Jr. was born February 3, 1023 in Columbus, Ohio to Harry F. and Jane R. Jones Steele. Steele attended the Ohio State University with the class of 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 12, 1943, and was discharged October 24, 1945. Steele married Sarah Elizabeth Kassulker (September 4, 1924-January 31, 2011) in December 1944 at the naval air station in San Diego, California. From 1946 to 1948, he attended Michigan State College (now Michigan State University), graduating with a degree in chemistry from the School of Science and Arts. While at MSC, he was a member of the American Legion Red Cedar Post.
