Biographical / Historical

According to its by-laws, the purpose of the Friends of the Crystal River is "to explore ways and means of preserving the natural ecological, historic, recreational, aesthetic and educational values of the Crystal River and its adjacent lands; to protect the sensitive wetlands and floodplain, flora and fauna in this unique watershed of Leelanau County; to maintain and improve the water quality of the river; to educate the public regarding the use and enjoyment of this classic wetlands natural resource; and to raise and disburse funds, and to take such other action as is reasonable and necessary, for the accomplishment of this purpose.” The Friends of the Crystal River is based in Glen Arbor, Michigan.
