Content Description

The collection consists of a photograph album with portraits of women and men and small images of Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) military activities. There are also photographs of Kathryn Faner Lobban and her husband Andrew Lobban. The images are in a 1927 MSC Military Ball souvenir album. Also included are photographs of musicians and MSC music faculty Alexander Schuster, Michael Press and Arthur Farwell which are inscribed to Kathryn Faner.

Biographical / Historical

Kathryn Louise Faner was born around 1910 in Montrose, Michigan. She attended Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) from 1927 to 1930. While at MSC, Kathryn was part of Chi Omega, Mu Eta Omicron, and president of Mu Eta Omicron. She was on the Board of Publications, State News from 1928 to 1930, and Co-Ed Editor of the State News in 1930. Faner was also President of the Girls’ Glee Club in 1929. She graduated in 1930 with her degree in Public School Music and went on to be a teacher in the Flint area.

She married Dr. Andrew E. Lobban on June 20, 1945 and resided in Flint, Michigan.
