The Beth Mlynarek Kaufman collection consists of materials relating to the Michigan State University Spartan Marching Band including Spartan Marching Band Media Information booklets, Alumni Band game day performance instructions, Alumni Band newsletters, tickets, photographs of Beth Kaufman including portraits as feature twirler and images from game days, newspaper clippings and magazine articles about Kaufman and the Spartan Marching Band, Title IX anniversary materials, football programs with band pages, a Drum Major Magazine and submission, Huddle Band Banquet Programs, a NBA Journal article “Remembering Kenneth Bloomquist” with remarks by Beth Kaufman, and a Spartan Marching Band bumper sticker.

Biographical Note

Beth L. Mlynarek Kaufman attended Western Michigan University in 1972. She transferred to Michigan State University where she obtained her B.A. in elementary education in 1975 and her M.A. in education in 1977. She became one of the first two women in the Michigan State University Spartan Marching Band as a Feature Twirler. Prior to her time at Michigan State, she was the 1971 State Women’s Champion Feature Twirler and 1971 Miss Majorette.
