Historical Note

The Extern Program of the MSU Department of Educational Administration began during the 1956-1957 academic year, and ran until 1991-1992. The purpose of the program, which was open to practicing beginning school administrators, was "to bridge the gap between educational theory and practice" ("Talking Shop at Weekend Seminars, 1958). Participants were encouraged to discuss the problems they encounter in their jobs in these informal weekend seminars.
