Scope and Content

The Lynn Stuart Brumm Collection consists of a scrapbook created by Brumm during his time at Michigan Agricultural College. Included are photographs of MAC baseball players, a few images of MAC football, students, people, animals and campus scenes. The collection also consists of photographs from his time on the intramural Class Baseball and Football Teams, college graduation, and several photographs from high school. Also included are non MAC scenes including storefronts, the Eaton Rapids High School baseball field, the band La Bell Bande von Olivet, and unknown people.

The collection also consists of an oversized photograph of the MAC class of 1912, and a class newsletter from 1928.

Biographical/Historical

Lynn Stuart Brumm was born in Nashville, Michigan on December 11, 1888 to parents Fred and Martha Brumm. After graduating from High School, Brumm attended Michigan Agricultural College from 1909-1912. During his college years, Brumm participated in the intramural Class Baseball Teams from 1909-1911, serving as Captain in 1911, as well as the Class Football Teams from 1910-1911. Brumm also acted as Varsity Manager for the Basketball Team in 1912, and as a member of the Farmers’ Club. Brumm graduated from Michigan Agricultural College in 1912 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Following his graduation, Brumm moved to Flint, Michigan, where he worked as the farm superintendent of the Michigan School for the Deaf. In early September 1915, Lynn Stuart Brumm married Josephine Morehouse Atherton, and together they had two sons, Robert and Lynn. The family moved to Mercer, Pennsylvania where Brumm worked as a manager of the McDowell Farm, Inc. for twelve years until his passing on July 2, 1931.
