The records of the Green Splash Swimming Club consist of club meeting minutes, membership information, negatives, photographs, and scrapbooks (1920-1986) which contain photographs, memorabilia, and water show programs. The bulk of the records revolve around the annual water pageants produced by the swimming club between 1953 and 1976. The earlier years are documented more fully in the club's minutes.

Historical Note

In 1920, the Women's Lifesaving Corps of Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) was founded to teach swimming and lifesaving techniques to interested co-eds. In 1927, the name changed to Green Splash and was reorganized as an honorary swimming club. The club had a synchronized swimming team that was open to both males and females but only females competed at invitational meets. Green Splash represented MSU in varsity sports with club members competing in synchronized swimming competitions both nationally and in the Big Ten Conference. They also put on performances for entertainment. Later, Green Splash became an intramural sports club. In 1998, the name changed to the MSU Synchronized Swimming club.
